Hands-on role: Building an AI assistant named “Gil” for seniors to help them independently solve technical challenges and learn about technology at their own pace. Responsible for the server-side Swift technology stack on AWS for web, internal tools, and public APIs running on Vapor server, Swift Lambdas for authentication and event processing, and an iOS app written in Swift.
Led a small team of engineers within the AI/ML organization. I was responsible for executing the on-device machine learning pipeline for Siri and Dictation features and building a user personalized speech vocabulary graph. Additionally, I made improvements to personalized requests by leveraging the user’s personal information, such as contacts, emails, and calendar entries, to enhance context saliency.
I provided technical leadership for the integration of mobile, web, and TV applications, and led the solution architecture for the overall user experience on Fox Broadcasting and Fox Sports media properties. I managed two backend engineering teams and was directly responsible for the quality, scalability, reliability, and observability of a distributed set of Go and Node.js micro-services that enabled Fox viewers to authenticate, watch live video and on-demand content, purchase subscriptions, and discover personalized recommendations on their mobile, desktop, or living room devices.
Oversaw data engineering, web development, and native mobile iOS and Android development teams. Architected a new scalable data pipeline for extracting user engagement and social media insights to facilitate business insights. Designed and led the effort to build a new white-labeling mobile app factory that gave the ability for top talent to customize their own user experience, brand, and style their mobile apps and websites for video distribution off of third-party platforms.
Started as a Software Development Engineer and transitioned to Engineer Manager and eventually Director. Responsible for a SAAS video platform engineering team which supported mobile video services running on major US carrier networks as part of a professional services engagement.. Developed several prototypes for innovative second screen mobile and living room video viewing experiences.
Worked with Course Instructor to convert course material for online presentation on the Microsoft MSDN Mastering Series. Converted Microsoft Backoffice documentation from RTF to HTML format for online publishing.
